Went sailing today
This past Saturday Melanie, Elizabeth, Rocky the dog, and I took the Chrysler C22 out for a sail. The forecast winds were 5 knots, and it may have started that way, but by the time we got the boat in the water it was less. However, we continued on.
It was around 1 PM when we started out. It was hot and humid, very humid. So much so that you would stew in your own juices. Rocky, we dipped over the edge to keep him wet and happy, not so much for ourselves. We did get a towel wet and wrapped it around us to cool off. Elizabeth went below deck and with the open hatch, it was tolerable.
Being the helmsman I had to stay in the sun and bake. Melanie being the good girlfriend kept me company, and she burned to a crisp.
On to the sailing. We made it half way down the lake before the winds died. Oddly, it died right as we ran aground. So, we raised the keel and motored off and waited for the wind to come back. It never did.
Elizabeth asked, can we go back now? So, I started the trusty Nissan 2.5 HP outboard and back we went. I must say, this is the first usage of the Nissan and it pushed the sailboat with authority and didn’t use much fuel at all. I was at half throttle or less the entire trip.

Under full sail.
