Tried to go sailing today
We had our grandson Brayden with us and he wanted to go sailing. As any sailor will tell you, any reason to go sailing is just fine.
We purchased drinks and lunch to eat on the boat, loaded things up, and off we went to Thomas Hill.
Upon arrival, I immediately noticed the dock ramp was under water and the boat ramp was under water up to the parking lot area. I’m thinking good, it’ll be easier to get the boat in.
Well, that wasn’t the case. The ramp incline was so shallow that I couldn’t even the bottom of the boat wet, so we head to Long Branch Lake.
Long Branch, it was busy. There wasn’t any place close to the ramp to setup the sailboat, ie raise the mast, and even if we could do that there were so many boats in the water that without an outboard I couldn’t maneuver around them. They were packed like sardines.
We did a little fishing, caught one little crappie, and then hit the beach for a while. Ate lunch and headed back home.
Great winds, too bad we couldn’t get in the water. This was the reason we bought a Nissan 2.5 outboard later in the week.
